Last Wednesday, September 8, 2021, the Federal Council announced in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that the Covid certificate will be introduced in the fitness industry from September 13, 2021. According to the FOPH’s explanatory notes to the ordinance of September 8, 2021 (Art. 20), the following provisions apply:

• There are no longer any restrictions for people who engage in sporting or cultural activities in outdoor areas.
• Establishments where visitors are not restricted to outdoor areas must restrict access to persons aged 16 and over to persons with a certificate.
• The operators are responsible for checking the validity of the certificates. The operators are responsible for the design and consistent implementation (including training and instruction of staff).
• If an employee cannot present a Covid certificate, this person is required to wear a mask if they have contact with guests in the fitness center.
