Reto Conrad has been elected President of swiss active!
Reto Conrad was elected President of swiss active at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Zurich at the end of November. Roger Conrad was previously Head of the IT, Production and Services Directorate and before that Head of Finance at the retailer Coop. Reto Conrad is the new president of the fitness association swiss active. At today’s meeting in Zurich, the members of the industry association elected the former CFO of Coop and Emmi as its president. Most recently, Conrad was Head of IT, Production and Services at retailer Coop for six years.
“The fitness industry plays an important role in promoting health in our country,” says Reto Conrad, the new President of swiss active. “Training and exercise strengthen the immune system and tone the body. The corona period in particular has shown how important prevention is and what an important role fitness centers and fitness providers play in this area. As President of swiss active, I want to strengthen the fitness industry’s contribution to the health of the Swiss population and make it more visible.” Reto Conrad succeeds the previous Managing Director Roger Erni and will take over all tasks and represent the association as President of swiss active.
At the beginning of September, a study by swiss active showed that the fitness and health industry is going through a difficult time after coronavirus. All key figures such as membership numbers, check-ins and center development have declined over the past two years. Nevertheless, there was a slight recovery in membership figures in the first quarter of 2022. The proportion of the Swiss population that is a member of a fitness provider rose from 11.9% to 12.1% between the end of 2021 and March 2022.
